Kontingen dari PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) dan KAI Commuter mewakili Indonesia berhasil meraih medali emas kategori Rapid Transit Systems dalam gelaran ASEAN Skills Competition (ASC) XIII di Singapura tanggal 22 – 27 Juli 2023. Pada kategori ini, KAI Group bersaing dengan Filipina dan tuan rumah Singapura.
Pada ajang tersebut, kontingen KAI melakukan praktik perkeretaapian yang mencakup sarana kereta (pemeliharaan dan perbaikan), catu daya traksi (pengukuran dan pembongkaran komponen pemutus arus berkecepatan tinggi), dan persinyalan (pemrograman dan modifikasi sinyal). Setelah beberapa hari dilakukan penjurian, pada hari penutupan atau Kamis (27/7), tim KAI Group berhasil meraih medali emas.
Direktur Utama KAI Didiek Hartantyo mengatakan, medali emas di ajang internasional ini merupakan sebuah representasi kecakapan SDM KAI Group dalam bekerja melayani seluruh pelanggan.
“KAI berkomitmen untuk terus meningkatkan skill para pegawai melalui berbagai pendidikan dan pelatihan di bidangnya masing-masing. Hal ini dalam rangka konsistensi KAI Group dalam memberikan pelayanan terbaik baik untuk angkutan penumpang, barang, maupun bisnis penunjang lainnya,” kata Didiek di Jakarta, Jumat (28/7).

ASEAN Skills Competition atau disingkat ASC adalah ajang unggulan keterampilan pendidikan vokasi terbesar di kawasan ASEAN yang benar-benar mencerminkan industri global. Kompetisi yang dilaksanakan 2 tahun sekali ini pertama kali diselenggarakan pada tahun 1995 di Malaysia setelah diadakannya rapat besar oleh ke -10 Menteri Tenaga Kerja se – Asia Tenggara. Setiap pelaksanaan, ASC dilaksanakan di negara yang berbeda-beda sesuai dengan urutan giliran penyelenggaraan. Berikut daftar dimana saja ASC dilaksanakan.
Pada kompetisi tahun 2023 ini, lebih dari 170 orang mewakili negaranya di ajang yang diadakan di Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre Singapura.
